Gingivoplasty

The gingivoplasty is a procedure that eliminates excess gum tissue. It can be used in minor crown lengthening procedures but also for the reduction of thick or overgrown gum around the teeth. Several medications are known to cause or facilitate gingival growth, such as Dilantin and Lipitor. Some other individuals may also have a genetic condition that allows their gum to grow excessively, such as Gingivofibromatosis.

The aim of the procedure is to reduce the excess gum to give you a normal gum contour .
